Fire prevention measures for steel structures

Firstly, the editor would like to remind everyone that fire prevention measures for steel structures should be based on the structural type, design fire resistance limit, and usage environment of the steel structure, in accordance with the following principles:

1. Fireproof construction does not produce harmful dust or gas to the human body;

When steel components are allowed to deform after being exposed to fire, fire prevention will not cause structural damage or failure;

3. Convenient construction, without affecting the completed construction in the early stage and subsequent construction;

4. It has good durability and weather resistance.



Steel structure fireproof coating

Secondly, one or more of the following measures can be taken for fire prevention in steel structures:

1. Spray (apply) fireproof coating;

2. Apply fireproof board;

3. Coating with flexible felt insulation material;

4. Outsourced concrete, metal mesh mortar or masonry.



Measures for Fireproof Coating of Steel Structures

Here, with the warm reminder of the editor, when spraying fireproof coating protection on steel structures, the following requirements should be met:

1. Indoor concealed components should use non expanding fireproof coatings;

Components with a fire resistance time greater than 1.5 hours should not use expansion type fireproof coatings;

3. When using expansion type fireproof coatings for outdoor and semi outdoor steel structures, environmentally friendly products that meet their performance requirements should be selected;

4. The coating thickness of non expanding fireproof coating should not be less than 10 millimeters;

5. Fireproof coatings and anti-corrosion coatings should be compatible and matched.



Fire prevention measures for steel structures

At the same time, when steel structures are protected by coated fireproof boards, the following requirements should be met:

1. The fireproof board should be made of non combustible materials and should not burst or cross crack when exposed to fire.

2. The coating of fireproof boards should be designed according to the shape and position of the components, and measures should be taken to ensure firm and stable installation;

3. The keel and adhesive used to fix the fireproof board should be non combustible materials. The keel should be easy to connect with components and fireproof boards. The adhesive should be able to maintain a certain strength at high temperatures and ensure complete coverage of the fireproof board.


Finally, when steel structures are protected by external concrete, metal mesh mortar, or masonry, the following requirements should be met:

1. When using outsourced concrete, the concrete strength grade should not be lower than C2O;

When using metal mesh mortar, the strength grade of the mortar should not be lower than M5. The steel wire mesh should not exceed 20 millimeters, and the diameter of the steel wire should not be less than 0.6 millimeters; The minimum thickness of mortar should not be less than 25 millimeters;

During masonry, the strength grade of the blocks should not be lower than MU10.
