The difference between PIR and PUR in polyurethane sandwich panels

author:Tianxing time:2024-12-26 11:27:58 Click:69

PUR and PIR refer to the chemical composition and structure of polyurethane rigid foam.

Both PUR and PIR can be composite as core materials with various rigid or flexible materials as surface materials through various processing methods.

PUR composite plate refers to the formulation system of polyether polyol, low isocyanate index and flame retardant commonly used as the core material of polyurethane rigid foam. The skeleton structure of foam is composed of carbamate segments, and the product can only be used below 100 ℃.

PIR composite board refers to the polyurethane rigid foam as the core material, which generally adopts the formula system of polyester polyol, high isocyanate index (above 250), and no or little use of flame retardant. The skeleton structure of foam is composed of carbamate segments and carbamate modified isocyanurate segments. The product can be used below 150 ℃.

The demand for PIR polyurethane boards is increasing in today's industrial system.

Recently, many customers are looking for PIR polyurethane cold storage panels. What is PIR polyurethane cold storage panel? Let's talk to everyone today.

The so-called PIR polyurethane cold storage panel refers to a polyurethane sandwich panel with a combustion level of B1.

When it comes to fire rating, we cannot ignore the old standard GB8624-1997. This is an earlier and more comprehensive standard for building fire-resistant materials. The standard describes it as follows:

Grade A: Non combustible materials (such as rock wool, stone, etc.)

B1 level: Flame retardant materials (such as polyurethane, polystyrene)

B2 level: Combustible materials (polyurethane, polystyrene)

B3 level: Flammable materials (extruded polystyrene, polyurethane, etc.)

Polyurethane is present in B1, B2, and B3 grade materials. To get back to the point, polyurethane cold storage panels, as one of the better insulation materials today, have been widely used in the construction of cold storage facilities in our production and daily life.

Polyurethane materials are organic materials, and only inorganic materials can achieve Class A non combustible, as we have mentioned in previous communications.

So polyurethane materials can reach a higher combustion level of B1.

What we usually refer to as PIR polyurethane cold storage panels is not the addition of a large amount of flame retardants to the polyurethane raw materials, but the use of a special formulation system, which is different from the traditional PUR system.
